About Us

A Brief History

Based in the village of Woodford Halse in the heart of the South Northamptonshire countryside, Marriotts Butchers is a third generation traditional family butchers.

Our grandfather, William Horbury Coulson, was the first in our family to go into the butchery trade.  Having worked for Mr Davey as a butcher's lad since 1926, he acquired the business in 1947.  In 1980 the shop was taken over by his daughter and son-in-law, Chris and John Marriott, who continued to build the business into the much loved local amenity that it is today.

Son Richard is now at the helm, with Chris and John still very much involved in the day to day running of the busy shop.  The latest family member to join is Richard's sister Alison and together this brother and sister team are committed to providing the personal, friendly service that our loyal customers know and love.

What We Do

We are passionate about providing high quality meat at affordable prices.  We never compromise on quality, having decades of experience in the buying and selection process.

In the main, our beef and lamb is reared on local farms in the surrounding villages and is butchered on site in our shop.  However, this is only half the process and the meat is then hung the old-fashioned way on the bone, here in Woodford Halse.  Most modern meat suppliers simply do not allow their meat to mature so it can become tough and flavourless when cooked.  At Marriotts we use traditional methods to mature our meat.  Our beef is matured for up to 21 days to allow time for the rich flavours to develop and the meat to become incredibly tender.

We also supply a full range of pork from our local suppliers and offer a broad range of chicken and turkey products, from whole bird roasts to our new oven-ready range of products.

Our venison and game is also sourced locally and can be provided fresh when in season and frozen when not.

Marriotts is also well known for its homemade products, all produced in our own premises.  We offer a huge range of sausages with over 30 different flavour combinations, from the ever popular pork and leek to the more exotic pork, sweet chilli and lime, complimented by our wide range of burgers such as pork, apple and stilton or traditional beef.

Another service that we offer is ready marinated meats, with numerous flavours to choose from - Chinese BBQ spare ribs perhaps, minted lamb steaks or maybe the Thai spiced chicken kebabs will take your fancy - we're sure you'll find them all delicious!

If you have your own animals that you would like butchered and processed for your own freezer, please get in touch and we will quote you for the work.  We can also make a variety of products for you, including sausages and burgers if you wish.
